Moncton scores two first round picks in the 2017 QMJHL Entry Draft!

At the conclusion of the first round in the QMJHL Entry Draft, Moncton walked away picking up two highly sought after players to join in the new era of Wildcats hockey!

With the third overall selection Moncton acquired Jakob Pelletier. The 16-year-old forward from Quebec played last season with the Séminaire St-François Blizzard of the QMAAA league, registering over one point per game with 57 points in 40 games played.  He also put up impressive numbers during the Telus Cup with 10 points in 7 games.

With the 13th overall selection Moncton made a trade with the Halifax Mooseheads. From that trade Moncton acquired a first round pick in the 2018 QMJHL draft, as well as the 23rd overall (2nd round) and the 58th overall selection (fourth round) this year.

New Brunswicker Jaxon Bellamy was the team’s 16th overall selection as Moncton’s final pick in the opening round.  The 6’3 defenceman played last season with the Saint John Vito’s, Midget AAA, putting up 22 points in 32 games.
