Sameul Poulin, projected as second overall at this year’s draft

Samuel Poulin; born in Blainville Quebec is the 16-year-old-forwards who is projected to go as the second overall selection in this summer’s QMJHL draft.

For the past two seasons Samuel has been with the Collège Esther-Blondin Phénix of the QMAAA league. After two years of consistent numbers and impressive play, there is no surprise that he is turning heads. During the 2016-2017 season he played in 39 contests, recording 30 goals and 38 assists for a 68 point total; averaging 1.74 points per night. Similarly, in 2015-2016 he registered 21 goals and 27 assists in 38 games, making his point per game average above one again at 1.26.

His size and strength are some of his best assets, at 16-years-old he is 6’0 and weighs 181 lbs, his ability to overpower and dominate his opponents allows him to create space on the ice. He also has great stick handling skills, and incredible speed and balance, making it easy for him to get around top defenders. He has a powerful shot and has the hockey sense needed for this next level. There is no doubt that Samuel has what it takes to become a power forward in the QMJHL.
