Trade Alert: Murphy to Bathurst, Miromanov and Desjardins join the Cats
MONCTON N.B. – The Moncton Wildcats have traded forward Liam Murphy, as well as a fourth round pick in 2018, and a second round pick in 2019 to the Acadie-Bathurst Titan. In return, the Wildcats acquire Daniil Miromanov, Olivier Desjardins and a sixth round pick in 2018.
Liam Murphy joined the team in 2014 and has played in the lineup for 176 games, posting 60 points over his three seasons. “We are really happy to be able to give Murphy the opportunity to go to a competitive team”, said Director of Hockey Operations, Roger Shannon. “I have no doubt he will do great in Bathurst and will be joining a number of former teammates there.
As part of this trade Moncton will see soon to be 20-year-old Daniil Miromanov join the club after playing the past two seasons with the Titan. Born in Moscow Russia this 6’4 forward has put up impressive numbers over the last two years and would be a physical presence on the ice. In 64 games during the 2015-2016 season he registered 42 points, while last season he was just shy of a point-per-game, with 62 points in 68 games. “Miromanov will have some opportunities to play pro hockey next year, but we are hoping that he will be a Wildcat will us this coming fall, he will most definitely be a welcomed addition to the team,” said Roger Shannon.
Adding some veteran presence on the blue line will be 20-year-old defenceman Olivier Desjardins. Born in Drummondville QC, he had played two seasons with the Foreurs before being traded to the Titan last season, posting 22 points in 68 games during the 2015-2016 campaign. “Desjardins will be a solid piece on back end for us, said Shannon. He had a near flawless playoff performance this year and is a very solid defender who we know will do his job, and that is what we expect from a 20-year-old.”
The 2017 QMJHL Entry Draft will being Saturday June 3rd at Harbour Station. Full draft coverage will take place on TVA Sports, Rogers TV, and tune into all of the Wildcats social media channels for up to date information.
