MONCTON NB – The Moncton Wildcats have traded forward Nicolas Kingsbury-Fournier and a second round pick in the 2020 QMJHL Entry Draft to the Québec Remparts, in exchange for defenseman Christian Huntley and a sixth round pick in 2019.
Huntley is now in his fourth season with the Remparts after being drafted by them in 2015. The 19-year-old, left shot d-man was born in Halifax, N.S. and to date has appeared in the Québec lineup for 210 games, registering 91 points. Director of Hockey Operations, Ritchie Thibeau had this to say about the acquisition. “We are very happy to be able to add Christian to our group of defensemen. He is a player that we have been interested in for a while, and are looking forward to getting him in the lineup.” Huntley will not only bring some more experience to the defensive group, he also has some offensive ability, registered 19 points in 35 games played this season.
With the addition of Christian, the Wildcats second round draft pick this past summer will head back to his home province of Québec to join the Remparts. “It’s not easy when you trade a young player that you really like,” said Thibeau. Nicolas will get the opportunity to play more regularly in Québec, and we all wish him nothing but the best with his new team.”
The Wildcats will not be back on home ice until December 31st when they meet the Acadie-Bathurst Titan for our New Year’s Eve match up at 2:00 p.m. You could have the chance to shoot to win a car during our NYE game courtesy of our friends at Subaru of Moncton!
