Wildcats announce Joey Perricone as team’s Goaltending Coach

MONCTON N.B. – The Moncton Wildcats are excited to welcome Joey Perricone to the organization as our new goaltending and video coach. Joey brings great experience both as a goaltender and as a coach, and will be a impactful asset to the team.

Born in California, Joey moved to Moose Jaw at the age of 16 to begin his junior career in the WHL. Playing with the Moose Jaw Warriors in nets for five years, he appeared in 211 games. Following his time in junior he went onto play minor pro in the East Coast Hockey League  with the Bakersfield Condors before making the move to Nova Scotia for university. For the next four and a half years Joey was at St. Francis Xavier University, playing between the pipes for the X-Men, while at the same time completing his Bachelor’s in Business Administration.

The next step for Joey was to transition into coaching, and he took the opportunity to join the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies as their full time goalie and video coach during the 2014-2015 season. Since then he has spent three years with the team, and during that time captured the President’s Cup win in 2015-2016.

“I am really excited to be joining the Moncton Wildcats organization. I look forward to being a part of the new era of Wildcats hockey as the team continues to grow. I am honoured to have been selected for the job, and am looking forward to getting things started in Moncton” said Joey.

Director of Hockey Operations, Roger Shannon had this to say about the new addition to the coaching staff. “We are very happy to have Joey on board, after a successful three years in Rouyn he will be a great coach for our goaltenders. He will be a great addition to the team and we look forward to getting back on the ice.”

Joey will make the move to Moncton with his wife and eight month old son as the Wildcats gear up for the upcoming season. Training camp will begin on August 15th and the Rookie Challenge will take place August 18-20th at the Superior Propane Centre in Moncton. For tickets call 382-5555.
