Wildcats answer the call with a 2-1 win over Rimouski – this series is headed to game 7!

MONCTON N.B. – It was quite the atmosphere tonight as the Wildcats took to the ice for game six in the Moncton Coliseum. Down by one game in the series it was Rimouski’s to win tonight; however, with the Wildcats continuous battle, they pulled out the win and are sending this series to game seven!

Compared to the past few games in this series, tonight was a low scoring affair with a lot on the line for both groups. The Océanic outshout the Cats 15 to 6 in the opening 20 minutes, but the game remained scoreless. It was not until 12:59 of the second that the visitors would get on the board first courtesy of Denis Mikhnin. The puck took a strange bounce off a skate and trickled by Grametbauer to give the Océanic a 1-0 lead. Midway through the second Jonathan Aspirot found the back of the net for his second of the series to tie things back at one and give the Cats some life in the second half of the game.

With time winding down in the final frame and the game still tied at 1-1 Brady Pataki made the perfect pass to Dylan Seitz in the slot and he wired one past Ellis for the game winning goal and his first of the playoffs!

Grametbauer answered the call tonight and was the difference maker, leading the Cats to a 2-1 victory. Facing double the shots (41-22) of the Océanic’s goalie Colten Ellis, Mark was without a doubt the first star in tonight’s match. Seitz also was named second star with the game winning goal!

Game seven will take place Tuesday night  in Rimouski at 8:30 p.m. AST.
