Wildcats fall in game two to the Armada

After a though loss last night in game one, the Wildcats were looking to rebound tonight, however, the Armada came out on top again to take a 2-0 series lead in this second round QMJHL playoffs.

Blainville was on the board first tonight at 9:15 of the opening period on a goal by Alex Barré-Boulet, who would also end up adding their second of the night later in the frame to make it a 2-0 Armada lead after 20 minutes of play.

With Moncton trailing by two early in the game they were looking to come out strong in the second with a quick goal to gain some early momentum. Instead, Blainville would notch three more, one even strength, one short handed and one power play goal before the Wildcats were able to get on the board. With a 5-0 lead and Moncton on another penalty kill, Jonathan Aspirot managed to chip the puck to James Phelan who went in on the breakaway and scored Moncton’s first of the night shorthanded. At the end of 40 minutes the home team lead 5-1.

Moncton scored two power play goals in the third to gain some momentum but with an onslaught of penalties to follow, the Wildcats spent the last half of the third in the penalty box, opening the door for Blainville to score a few more goals on the two man advantage to put away the game.

Blainville outshot Moncton 41-28, and the opponents were also on the power play 13 times total in the match.

Next games of round two are Tuesday and Wednesday in Moncton, both game starts are at 7:00 p.m. Get your tickets at 857-4100 or online at tickets.moncton.ca
