Wildcats fall short in game five to the Océanic

Your Wildcats were back in action tonight in Rimouski for game 5 of this best-of-seven series against the Océanic. The series was tied 2-2 going into this evening’s game, and with a large Wildcats contingent on hand, the team was looking to take a series lead on the road.

With the third win for both teams on the line tonight, both groups came out strong and ready to go. The first period would end up scoreless with Moncton outshooting Rimouski 8-7. It wasn’t until the second when Rimouski broke open the scoring with two goals by Alexis Lafrenière and Carson MacKinnon.

In the third, Moncton landed a marker at 12:07 of the final frame courtesy of captain Nick Welsh to get the Cats within one. The Océanic would end up responding approximately a minute later with a goal by Mathieu Nadeau. They would also add a power play goal by Samuel Dove-McFalls, and in the final few minutes of the third Denis Mikhnin would notch their firth of the night.

Brady Pataki ended up finding the back of the net with eight seconds left in the final frame, but it was too late for this one, the Océanic would take this game 5-2. All three stars tonight went to the Océanic, and they also outshot the Wildcats 33-24.
