Wildcats win home opener in front of sold out crowd!

In front of a sold out Avenir Centre the Wildcats win their home opener against the Saint John Sea Dogs 5-2. It was quite the night for Moncton Wildcats fans, being treated to a great win in a new beautiful rink!

First on the board tonight was Alexander Khovanov, registering on the power play at 2:45 of the first period to give the Cats some early momentum! Next up was Jakob Pelletier at 5:02 – assists to Hudson and DeJong. Before the end of the frame the visitors would add one of their own to narrow the Wildcats lead to one goal.

The second period both team recorded goals, Alexander Khovanov notched his second of the night for the Cats, while Saint John’s Filip Prikryl added their second of the night.

The Wildcats would seal the win in the third with two more goals to make the final 5-2. Jeremy McKenna notched his first of the season with the assist to Capannelli. With a late power play opportunity for the Sea Dogs shut down Moncton’s Jacob Hudson was able to find the empty net to seal the win.

Moncton outshot the Sea Dogs 36 to 24 with Elliot Desnoyers named hardest worker and Khovanov (1st star), McKenna (2nd star) and Pelletier  (3rd star) all named as the three stars of the game.

Moncton is back in action on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. as the Halifax Mooseheads roll into town. Get your tickets at or at the Subaru of Moncton Box Office at the Avenir Centre.
