Cats gain a point in wild OT loss to Eagles

An exciting game and a point earned for the Wildcats in a dramatic 6-5 OT loss to the Cape Breton Eagles before 4,800 fans at the Avenir Centre on Wednesday night.

The game, scoreless after one period, featured an amazing 8 goals in the second period and 11 different goal scorers! Antoine Roy eventually won it for Cape Breton 1:39 into extra time.

Moncton scorers were Max Barbashev (31st), Yoan Loshing (29th), Etienne Morin (21st), Vincent Labelle (26th), and Jonas Taibel (13th). Loshing added 2 assists for a 3-point night. In goal,

Moncton’s Jacob Steinman faced 41 shots, the Wildcats had 35 at Oliver Satny.

The Wildcats remain in third place in the Eastern Conference, 2 points ahead of Rimouski and Chicoutimi, all with 2 games remaining.

Moncton visits Bathurst Friday night at 7pm and winds up the regular season with ‘FAN APPRECIATION DAY’ on Saturday at 4pm at the Avenir Centre against the Eagles one last time.
