Huskies hang on to shade Wildcats in Rouyn-Noranda

Jean Lapointe

The Wildcats turned in a strong road game in Rouyn-Noranda but the hometown Huskies held on for a 3-2 win at the Glencore Arena.

Defenseman Alex Carr scored the only third period goal — holding up as the game winner at 9:22.

The Wildcats led 2-1 in the second period as Luke McPhee, his 1st of the season, and Yoan Loshing, his 12th, cashed in with goals only 38 seconds apart in the first minute of play.

Moncton outshot the Huskies 34-30 and strong goaltending was provided at both ends from the Cats’ Jacob Steinman and former Cat Thomas Couture, who made several key saves. Moncton’s record is now 10-9-0-1.

The Wildcats next home ice action will be Friday, November 25, against the Huskies at 7pm and Sunday, November 27 versus division rivals Halifax Mooseheads at the Avenir Centre.
