Labelle hatty not enough versus Eagles

Daniel St. Louis

A Timbits Jamboree Sunday Funday drew 5,200 fans at the Avenir Centre, but the Cape Breton Eagles spoiled the party late with a 6-4 victory over the Wildcats.

The Wildcats, who owned a 2-0 first-period lead, were led by First Star Vincent Labelle’s hat trick (16th, 17th, 18th) while defenseman Oscar Plandowski provided a highlight reel ‘stick between the legs’ beauty for his 3rd goal of the season.

Not to be outdone, Cape Breton veteran Ivan Ivan also scored three goals, propelling the Eagles to their 5th win over the Wildcats this season.

The Wildcats outshot the Eagles 31-30. Moncton’s Jacob Steinman made 24 saves, while the Cape’s Oliver Satny stopped 27 shots to record the win.
