The Subaru of Moncton trade alert went off Saturday morning when the Wildcats sent two 3rd Round picks to Shawinigan for overage forward Charles Beaudoin (Bromont, QC) during the 3-hour pre-draft trade window.
The Wildcats acquired a solid veteran who plays top line minutes and contributes in all areas of the ice. Beaudoin is a former 1st Rd pick (2018, 11th overall) of the Cataractes and put up 108 points (57 G, 51 A) in 203 games. The 6’2″, 183 lb winger added 102 penalty minutes. He also brings playoff experience to a young Cats squad, with 7 points (1 G, 6 A) during Shawinigan’s President Cup run and 3 assists in the 2022 Memorial Cup.
“He’s a big, physical, skilled forward, and we thought he was the type of player we needed to add to our group to make us better in our top-six. He’ll bring a steady presence up front,” says Director of Hockey Operations Ritchie Thibeau.
The move is similar to last year’s acquisition of 2021 President Cup winner Brooklyn Kalmikov, who stepped right in and led the Wildcats — earning Top Scorer, Most Goals, MVP and Fans Choice Awards.
