Wildcats announce new additions to coaching staff

August 8, 2019

MONCTON N.B. – The Moncton Wildcats are pleased to announce that the team has added three new coaches for the 2019/2020 hockey season.

Darryl Boyce who was with the team this past season as Hockey Operations & Player Development Coordinator will now be an Assistant Coach under John Torchetti. Former Wildcat Ryan Salvis has also been added to the staff as Assistant Coach, and Marc Terriault has been named Goaltending Coach.

“We have added three great quality coaches, they will help develop our players and our organization moving forward to achieve our goals,” said Head Coach, John Torchetti.

After being drafted by the Wildcats in 2001, things have now come full circle for Ryan Salvis, returning to the organization, but this time behind the bench. Salvis played in Moncton from 2001-2005. Following his time with the Wildcats Ryan went on to play U SPORTS hockey for  the St. Francis Xavier University X-Men, as well as playing in the ECHL, CHL & SPHL before turning his attention to coaching.

During the 2015/16 season Ryan was serving as an Assistant Coach for the Moncton Midget AAA Flyers, then moved on the following year as Co-Head Coach of the Dieppe Commandos. For the past two seasons Ryan has filled the role of Head Coach and Assistant General Manager of the newly formed Edmundston Blizzard.

“The Wildcats are a first class organization from top to bottom and I’m very excited for the opportunity,” said Salvis. “To be part of the coaching staff for the team I played for 15 years ago is something special. As a team, we will continue to strive for the best and push one another as we work towards the goal of winning the Memorial Cup.”

Joining the team as the new Goaltending Coach is Marc Terriault. Marc has worked for the past several years as a goaltender consultant and goaltending instructor both in Montreal and Halifax, specializing in the development, and evaluation of goaltenders. Terriault was also part of the Dieppe Commandos in 2015, winning the Kent Cup Championship and was named playoff MVP that year. Currently attending Saint Mary’s University, Marc is in his final year of studies completing his honours in psychology, and we look forward to welcoming him to his new role with the Wildcats.

“I am honoured to be a part of the organization,” said Marc. “I believe we have the right ingredients to be successful, and I am looking forward to work with the talented group of goaltenders and players in our quest to the Memorial Cup. Moncton has always remained a special place for me and I couldn’t ask for a better place to coach.”

The Wildcats 2019 Home Opener is Friday September 27th against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan. If you are looking to purchase Season Seats or Flex Packs give us a call at the Wildcats Business Office at 382-5555.
