Connor Richard and Yoan Loshing scored their first QMJHL goals for the Wildcats in a 4-2 loss to the Saint John Sea Dogs, Tuesday at TD Station.
Richard opened the scoring nearly five minutes into the first period with a heavy wrist shot from the slot that beat Saint John goalie Noah Patenaude to give Moncton a 1-0 lead.
The Sea Dogs tied the game with a power play goal two minutes later and jumped in front, 2-1, with another strike 57 seconds after that.
There was no further scoring until Saint John added to its lead wtih two goals in the second half of the second period, giving the home side a 4-1 lead through 40 minutes.
Loshing’s goal came almost eight minutes into the third period, as he took a Jacob Stewart feed in the left circle and whistled a low shot past Patenaude to cut the Wildcats’ deficit to 4-2.
But Moncton could not get any closer on the scoreboard.
Goalie Dakota Lund-Cornish made 34 saves in a losing cause.
