Wildcats fall 6-2 to the Moose ahead of the holiday break

The Wildcats ended the first half of the season with a 6-2 loss to the Halifax Mooseheads, Saturday at Avenir Centre.
Samuel Desgroseilliers and Francis Langlois scored for Moncton.
Halifax opened the scoring on the power play more than five minutes into the game and struck again at even strength six minutes later.
The Mooseheads tacked on a 4-on-4 goal two minutes after that to lead 3-0 after one period.
Desgroseilliers’ goal came eight-and-a-half minutes into the second period during a 4-on-3 power play.
The overage blueliner fired a shot from the top of the right circle that was stopped by Halifax goalie Brady James, but the rebound deflected into the goal off a Mooseheads defender to cut Moncton’s deficit to 3-1.
The visitors restored their three-goal lead a short time later and led 4-1 through forty minutes.
Halifax extended its lead to 6-1 with a pair of goals early in the third period, including one on the power play.
Langlois closed out the scoring for Moncton with just over a minute remaining, potting the rebound of a Charles-Antoine Pilote point shot that had been blocked.
Goalie Vincent Filion made 40 saves in the loss.
The Wildcats finish the pre-Christmas schedule in third place in the Maritimes Division with 34 points.
