Wildcats hockey is back!

2020-2021 QMJHL Season Confirmed

The QMJHL announced this afternoon that the 2020-2021 season will officially begin play on October 1, 2020. After months of work with the provinces and Public Health Officials, all teams now have the go ahead to resume hockey. This is great news for our league, and we look forward to welcoming back our fans in the very near future! The season schedule has not yet been finalized but will be available in the coming weeks.

Due to the ongoing situation surrounding COVID-19, this year’s season will look different on several levels. The league will operate with a 60-game schedule, which will mean 30 home games as opposed to the usual 34 home games. In addition, the league will now be divided into three divisions of six teams. Each team will only play within their division for the entirety of the regular season.

The breakdown is as follows:

Maritimes Division

Moncton Wildcats

Saint John Sea Dogs

Acadie-Bathurst Titan

Halifax Mooseheads

Cape Breton Eagles

Charlottetown Islanders

East Division

Baie-Comeau Drakkar

Chicoutimi Saguenéens

Québec Remparts

Rimouski Océanic

Shawinigan Cataractes

Victoriaville Tigres

West Division

Blainville-Boisbriand Armada

Drummondville Voltigeurs

Gatineau Olympiques

Rouyn-Noranda Huskies

Sherbrooke Phœnix

Val-d’Or Foreurs

The details regarding building protocol and ticket information are still in the works, however, fans can expect reduced capacity this season, and those in attendance will have to follow public health protocol/ guidelines while in the Avenir Centre. We continue to work with the QMJHL and Public Health to ensure that return-to-play is done in the safest manner for fans and players.

In the coming weeks we will have final ticketing information, seating capacity, and building regulations which will be released to fans and season ticket members as soon as possible.

Training Camp

Training camp will begin on August 30th at the Avenir Centre. Due to restrictions with COVID-19 this year’s camp list has been set at a maximum of 34 players for all teams.

There will be exhibition games, however, due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19, all of these games, as well as training camp activities will be closed to the public. The Wildcats will be streaming exhibition games live on our YouTube channel so fans can still watch; we will have those details in the coming weeks, along with the game schedule.

We thank you for your patience and look forward to seeing you back at the rink soon!
