Wildcats home & ready to defend the Den for Game 3

The Moncton Wildcats came through the first 2 games of Round 2 with a road split, good enough to grab home ice advantage in the series. The Cats came out fast in Game 1 and downed the Moose 4-1 last Friday night. On Saturday, the Mooseheads responded with a 7-1 victory, evening things up. The series now shifts to WildTown for games 3 & 4 on Wednesday, April 19 & Thursday, April 20.

The Wildcats had many great performances in Game 1 — most notably by goalie Jacob Steinman with 39 saves for his 5th win of the playoffs. Charles Beaudoin set up 2 goals, as did Étienne Morin who now has 15 points, putting him 3rd in QMJHL playoff scoring. Cats’ goals came from Vincent Labelle, Natan Grenier, Yoan Loshing & Max Barbashev. It was a great team effort that they hope to duplicate on home ice Wednesday & Thursday.

Game 2 on Saturday night was a different story as Josh Lawrence’s 5-point night (2G, 3A) powered the Mooseheads to a 7-1 revenge win. One bright spot was Trent Ballentyne’s 1st QMJHL goal that put the Wildcats on the board & made it 2-1 midway through the game.

The Avenir Centre is the scene for Game 3 of the series. Come out and cheer on the Wildcats as we ‘Defend the Den’ in Round 2!
