Wildcats invite six free agents to training camp

The Moncton Wildcats are excited to announce they have invited six free agents to the team’s 2022-23 training camp.

Forwards Goran Stobo and Alexis Gagné, defencemen Trent Ballentyne, Creo Solomon and Raine Nadeau and goaltender Jacob Steinman are expected to join the club in time for the start of training camp on August 15.

Stobo, 17, recorded 11 goals and 20 points in 30 games last season for the Cole Harbour Wolfpack of the Nova Scotia U18 Major Hockey League (NSU18MHL). Listed at 6’1” and 194 lbs., the Cole Harbour, N.S., native added 9 points in 8 playoff games.

Gagné, 17, is a right winger from Ste-Marie-de-Beauce, Quebec. Listed at 6’4” and 185 lbs., he had 18 goals and 26 points in 26 games for École Secondaire Veilleux.

Ballentyne, 18, tallied four goals and 14 points in 45 games in 2021-22 with the St. Thomas Stars of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL). The London, Ontario, native is listed at 6’3” and 185 lbs.

Solomon, 18, finished last season with the Wellington Dukes of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL), totalling one goal and seven points in 19 games. The 6’2”, 191-lb. native of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, also had five goals and 15 points in 26 games with the Soo Thunderbirds of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL).

Nadeau, who turns 18 next month, registered two goals and six points in 27 games as captain of the Central Ontario Wolves U18s in the Eastern AAA Hockey League (ETAHL). Listed at 6’2” and 194 lbs., the product of Oshawa, Ontario, also chipped in one assist in five games with the Stouffville Spirit (OJHL).

Steinman, 18, played 29 games for the Ayr Centennials (GOJHL) last season, posting a 12-10-2 record, a 2.83 goals-against average, a .922 save percentage and two shutouts. The Cambridge, Ontario, native is listed at 6’0” and 181 lbs.
