Wildcats open season with win over Isles

The 2019-2020 season opened up this evening in Charlottetown to start the season on the road.

Elliot Desnoyers scored 3:23 into overtime to give the Wildcats a 3-2 victory over the Charlottetown Islanders in their season opener, Friday at Eastlink Centre.

The second-year forward took a drop pass from Tristan De Jong in the slot and ripped a wrist shot through the legs of Isles’ goalie Matthew Welsh.

Kyle Foreman and Mika Cyr also scored for Moncton while 2019 first-round pick Zachary L’Heureux earned an assist for his first QMJHL point.

Goalie Olivier Rodrigue made 26 saves for the victory in his first game with the Wildcats.

Thomas Casey scored both goals for Charlottetown.

Moncton’s next game is Saturday, September 21st, against the Saint John Sea Dogs at TD Station. Catch Tim Roszell’s call LIVE on 105.1 Harvesters FM, beginning with the pregame show at 6:45 p.m.
