Wildcats pull off 6-5 OT win over the Titan

Jeremy McKenna’s goal with 34.2 seconds left in overtime lifted the Wildcats to a wild 6-5 victory over the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, Friday at the KC Irving Regional Centre.

Alexander Khovanov, Christian Huntley, Jacob Hudson, Zachary L’Heureux and Elliot Desnoyers also scored for Moncton.

The Titan held four separate leads in the game. They are winless in eleven games to start the season and have dropped four straight games in extra time.

Moncton led 2-1 after one period on goals by Khovanov and Huntley. The home side scored two goals six minutes apart near the halfway point in the second, but Hudson tied the score with a power play goal.

The Titan took a 4-3 lead early in the third before L’Heureux squared the affair shortly after. Desnoyers’ goal came with two minutes left in the third, about nine minutes after Acadie-Bathurst had struck again. Moncton had to kill a penalty for the final 1:54 of regulation time. Olivier Rodrigue earned the win with 24 saves.
