Wildcats top Sea Dogs 2-1 on the road

Goalie Vincent Filion made 26 saves to lead the Wildcats to a 2-1 victory over the Saint John Sea Dogs, Saturday at TD Station.

Alexis Daniel and Jacob Hudson scored for Moncton.

Daniel’s goal opened the scoring just eight seconds into the game.

Blueliner Tristan De Jong carried the puck up the right side of neutral ice and sent a slap shot into the Saint John zone that deflected off a Sea Dogs’ defender into the slot where Daniel wired a wrister past the blocker of goalie Noah Patenaude.

Hudson doubled the Wildcats lead halfway through the period as he took a feed in the slot and beat Patenaude with a heavy wrister.

Moncton led 2-0 after twenty minutes.

Saint John got one goal back on the power play with just over two minutes left in the second period, but the Wildcats carried a one goal lead into the third.

Moncton sealed the win in the final 79 seconds by killing off a penalty, which turned into a 6-on-4 power play for Saint John with their net empty.

Hudson and De Jong each extended points streaks to four games.
