Wildcats top Titan 6-1 in Rivalry Weekend

Mika Cyr scored twice as part of a three-point night and Jakob Pelletier added a pair of goals, leading the Wildcats to a 6-1 victory over the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, Saturday at Avenir Centre.

The 20-year-old Cyr opened the scoring more than eleven minutes into the first period. That was followed by a Pelletier shorthanded goal three minutes later. The captain struck again before the end of the period to give Moncton a 3-0 lead after twenty minutes.

The Titan netted a power play goal early in the second, but Sean Stewart countered at the eight-minute mark to make it 4-1. Cyr added to the Wildcats’ lead with five-and-a-half minutes remaining in the period.

Jeremy McKenna wrapped up the scoring with seven minutes left in the third period, moments after a Moncton power play had ended.

Cyr and McKenna finished the night with three points each. Alexander Khovanov chipped in with two assists.

Goalie Charles-Antoine Lavallee earned his third straight win with 18 saves.

The Wildcats have won two straight games and seven of their last eight.
