The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, in association with the Canadian Hockey League, the Saint John Sea Dogs, the Moncton Wildcats and Hockey Canada, announced today its roster which will compete against Team Russia as part of the 2019 CIBC Canada Russia Series.
The Sea Dogs will play host to game one of the series, which will be held in Saint John on Monday, November 4, while the Wildcats will host the second game of the series on Tuesday, November 5. Thereafter, the Ontario Hockey League is set to host Games 3 and 4, while the Western Hockey League will welcome the final games of the 2019 series. All six games will be nationally broadcasted on both Sportsnet and TVA Sports.
Hockey fans in New Brunswick will have the opportunity to see plenty of high-end NHL prospects including a few players who were selected during last June’s NHL Entry Draft in Vancouver. Team QMJHL will feature several players chosen in the first two rounds including Samuel Poulin (Pittsburgh, 1-21), Jakob Pelletier (Calgary, 1-26), Raphaël Lavoie (Edmonton, 2-38) and Samuel Bolduc (New York-I, 2-57). They will join 2018 NHL draft picks Jared McIsaac (Detroit, 2-36), Benoit-Olivier Groulx (Anaheim, 2-54), Gabriel Fortier (Tampa Bay, 2-59), Olivier Rodrigue (Edmonton, 2-62), Alexis Gravel (Chicago, 6-162), Mathias Laferrière (St. Louis, 6-169) and Xavier Bouchard (Vegas, 6-185) in Saint John and Moncton.
Furthermore, fans will get a glimpse at the crop of 2020 NHL draft eligible players as Alexis Lafrenière (Rimouski), Justin Barron (Halifax), Jérémie Poirier (Saint John), Hendrix Lapierre (Chicoutimi) and Dawson Mercer (Drummondville) cracked Team QMJHL’s roster.
